Maitri Manthan Sansthan collects as little personal data as it can. This page explains what we collect through this website, through our Find My Pipali app, and when you donate or write to us, why we collect it, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and how you can see, correct or delete it.

Who we are

Maitri Manthan Sansthan is a society registered under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958 (Regd. No. 98/Udaipur/2013-14), with its office at New Navratan, Udaipur, Rajasthan 313001. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 we are the "data fiduciary" for the personal data described here: we decide why and how it is used.

What we collect

Contact form
Your name, email address, organisation (if you give one), the topic you choose and your message.
Feedback forms
Your message, your name if you type it, and the address of the page you were on.
Website analytics
Through Google Analytics (loaded by Google Tag Manager): the pages you visit, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (city level). Google sets cookies to do this. If you reach us from a Google ad, Google Ads also records that the visit led to a donation: the amount, the cause, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your email address and phone number. Google uses the hashed copy only to match the donation to the ad, and never sees your actual email or number. Google Ads also notes visits to our site so we can show our appeals to past visitors, for example on Google Search. Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights also count visits and page speed, without cookies and without identifying you.
Donations
When you donate online, you give us your name, phone number and email address. If you ask for an 80G receipt, you also give us your PAN. We pass these to Razorpay with your payment, and Razorpay tells us the amount and the payment reference. When you give by UPI QR code or bank transfer, your bank shares your name, UPI ID or account name, the amount and the transaction reference. For some receipts we also ask for your postal address, as tax law requires.
Email, phone and WhatsApp
Whatever you choose to send us when you contact us directly.

We do not ask for Aadhaar numbers or passwords, and the site has no user accounts. Your card, net-banking and UPI PIN details go straight to Razorpay and your bank; we never see or store them.

Why we use it

To reply to you
Answering your enquiry, volunteer or internship application, or partnership request.
To record donations
Issuing receipts and keeping the accounts and donor records that the Income-tax Act and, for foreign contributions, the FCRA require of us.
To improve the site
Seeing which pages are used and fixing what is broken, using analytics and your feedback.
To meet legal duties
Responding to lawful requests from authorities, and acting on safeguarding concerns.

We never sell or rent personal data. We do not add you to a mailing list unless you ask to be on one.

Who else handles it

A few service providers process data on our behalf, only for the purposes above. Some of their servers are outside India, which the DPDP Act permits.

Vercel
Hosts this website and runs the forms.
Resend
Delivers form messages to our inbox.
Google
Hosts our email inbox, and provides Google Analytics, Google Ads, Tag Manager, Google Fonts and the YouTube thumbnails shown on the site.
Razorpay
Processes online donations, as our payment gateway.
Our bank and UPI provider
Process the donations you send.
Our chartered accountant and auditors
See donation records when they audit our accounts.

Cookies

Google Analytics uses cookies (names beginning with _ga) to tell new visits from returning ones.

Google Ads uses cookies (names beginning with _gcl, and Google’s own advertising cookies) to tell us when a visit from one of our ads leads to a donation. Google, as a third-party vendor, also uses them to show our appeals to people who have visited our site before. You can turn off personalised ads from Google at adssettings.google.com, or from many advertisers at once at aboutads.info.

Nothing else on the site depends on cookies. You can block or delete them in your browser settings, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on; the site works the same either way.

The Find My Pipali app

Find My Pipali is our Android app for finding, tagging and caring for Pipal trees. You sign in to it with a Google account. The app collects more than the website does, so this section describes it on its own.

Your account
From Google: your name, email address and profile photo, nothing else. When you start, you tell us your gender, age group, occupation, city and how you heard about the app, and you may add a phone number.
Trees and your activity
The photos, GPS location and note for each tree you tag; the photo you take and where your phone was when you confirm a tree; the care, pujas and reports you log; and the leaves you earn.
Location
Used while you use the app, to show trees near you and to record where a tree stands. If you turn on nearby tree alerts, the app also checks your location in the background to tell you when you pass a tree that needs confirming. Where you go is not stored.
Camera and photos
Used only to photograph trees. Before a photo is saved, the app blurs any faces it finds and removes hidden details such as GPS location, phone model and time.
Donations in the app
The same as on this website: your name, email address and phone number, and your PAN if you ask for an 80G receipt, go to Razorpay with your payment. Your phone number is remembered on your phone for your next gift; your PAN never is.

Who sees what: trees, their photos, locations and notes, and the notes and photos left when confirming or caring for a tree, are seen by everyone signed in to the app, so others can find and protect them. Your answers when you start, your email and your phone number are seen only by you and our team. Reminders and notification history stay on your phone.

Who handles it: the app’s data is stored for us by Supabase, on servers in Mumbai, India. Google provides the sign-in. To check that a tree is a Pipal, its photos are sent to Pl@ntNet, a plant-identification service run by French research institutes, with faces blurred and location removed, and never with your name. Razorpay processes donations.

Your choices: you can change your details in the app’s Profile, and edit or delete your own unconfirmed trees. Delete account, in Profile, removes your account and everything personal in it for good; trees you tagged stay on the map without your name, so others can keep looking after them. You can turn off location, camera and notifications at any time in your phone’s settings.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and applications
Up to 3 years after our last contact with you, then deleted.
Website feedback
Up to 1 year.
Find My Pipali account
Until you delete it in the app. Trees you tagged then stay on the map without your name.
Donation records and receipts
10 years, as tax law requires.
Analytics
No more than 14 months in Google Analytics.

Children

This website is not meant to collect information from anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you.

If you see a photograph or video of yourself or your child on this site and want it taken down, write to us and we will remove it within 7 days.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected, completed or updated, have it erased when we no longer need it, withdraw consent you have given, and nominate someone to act for you. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

How we protect it

The site is served only over HTTPS. Form messages go straight to our inbox and are not stored in a website database. Only the staff who need personal data can see it. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

When we change what we collect or who handles it, we update this page and the date at the top.

Contact us about your data

Write to our data protection contact with the subject line “Privacy request”. Tell us what you would like us to do, and how to reach you.
